Job summary

The Occupational Therapist at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH plays a crucial role in helping patients regain daily functions. They conduct evaluations, plan treatments based on physician referrals, and document progress across outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.

Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state is required; BLS is preferred. At least two years of experience in a similar setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of current practice (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH).
• 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred).
• Demonstrates age-specific standards, policies and procedures; data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
• Ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.

Responsibilities

• Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs.
• Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols.
• Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs.
• Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences.
• Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.
