Job summary

Driftwood Healthcare Center-Hayward is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our compassionate team in Hayward, CA. The OTA will administer treatments, perform functional assessments, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to support patients’ discharge planning and progress.

Candidates must hold an Associate degree in Occupational Therapy and an active California OT Assistant license; new graduates are welcome, with one year of clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• New graduates welcome; one year of clinical experience preferred.
• Current California OT Assistant license is required.

Responsibilities

• Administers treatment to patients with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal problems.
• Performs tests and measurements for muscle strength, coordination, ROM, and respiratory/circulatory efficiency.
• Provides direct clinical treatment per plan of care.
• Participates in an interdisciplinary team of clinicians.
• Assists patients with tools and treatments for specific needs.
• Maintains patient record confidentiality.
• Conducts home assessments to ensure safe discharge with OT/PT as needed.

• ccupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) Duties and Responsibilities Performed within scope of practice and federal guidelines:
• Administers treatment to patients with problems related to neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.
• Administers tests and measurements for muscle strength, coordination, range of motion, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
• Provides direct clinical treatment in accordance with an established plan of care.
• Participates in an interdisciplinary team of clinicians.
• Assists the patient with tools and treatments for specific patient needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
• Conducts simulated and/or actual home assessments, as appropriate, to ensure discharge of residents to a safe environment, along with the OT/PT as needed.

• ccupational Therapist (OT) Qualifications and Skills:

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy.
• One (1) year of clinical experience preferred. New graduates welcomed.
• Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant issued by the state of California.
