Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA, OTA) in Home Health provides occupational therapy to patients in their homes, aiming to restore their physical abilities. Duties are performed in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, adhering strictly to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
• Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice and legal regulations for occupational therapy assistants.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising OT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician. Coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members about therapy within the occupational therapy assistant's scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current OTA licensure in the respective state
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
