  • Ability to climb stairs, kneel, twist, and bend; occasionally crouch, crawl, and reach overhead
  • Ability to lift patients, equipment, or supplies up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to laterally transfer patients weighing 100 pounds rarely
  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate exercises and activities to patients/caregivers
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, direct, and administer Occupational Therapy programs upon physician referral
  • Plan and conduct OT programs to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize patient independence
  • Direct and supervise OT assistants, OT technicians, students, and volunteers
  • Assist with orienting new and rotating staff
  • Evaluate patients and establish care plans including modalities, procedures, exercises, and education
  • Gather and interpret data from medical records, physician reports, patients, and families
  • Identify needs for and utilize appropriate assistive and orthotic devices
  • Document evaluations, tests, progress notes, treatment notes, attendance, education, outcomes, discharge notes, and charges
  • Re-evaluate patients and modify goals and treatment as patient status changes
  • Communicate evaluations and progress to physicians, referral sources, and clinical staff
  • Coordinate schedules, treatment programs, discharge planning, and solutions to patient care problems
  • Provide and document patient and family education, including individualized home programs and equipment use
