Job summary

Beacon Health System in Dowagiac, MI seeks an Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients and plan treatment programs to restore function after disease, injury or surgery. The role supports Swing Bed services and requires coordinating with the Rehab team to ensure quality patient care.

You will educate patients and caregivers about goals and home programs, document progress in the medical record, and participate in rotations, meetings and departmental activities.

Qualifications

• The knowledge, skills and abilities include the use of evaluation tools and modalities used in OT.
• Interpersonal communication with patients, families, healthcare professionals and staff.
• Compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients.
• Plan appropriate treatment based on referrals and evaluations; set goals.
• Educate patients and caregivers about treatment goals and methods.
• Perform treatments per established plans and ensure progress toward goals.
• Instruct patients/families in home programs and injury prevention.
• Document progress in the medical record.
• Reevaluate patients and recommend disposition.
• Communicate with other healthcare professionals.
