Job summary

MyMichigan Health in Michigan is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to join outpatient and acute care teams. You will assist, supervise aides, and implement treatment plans under OT direction.

This role emphasizes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation; requires strong communication, compliance with policies, and commitment to patient care; sign-on bonus up to $30,000 available.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of orientation and new hire competency.
• Strong English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently with problem solving and organization.
• OSHA annual training compliance.
• AOTA membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates the patient’s function with formal/informal testing and assesses skeletal, neurological, respiratory and cognitive status.
• Develops a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and patient tolerance.
• Submits treatment regime for plan of care and updates as needed, co-signing orders when necessary.
• Devises a schedule of treatment (frequency/duration) coordinated with patient/family and staff.
• Educates patient/family/caregiver on pathology, prognosis and treatment rationale; supervises assistants and aides.
• Promotes occupational therapy within MyMichigan Health and serves as case manager for assigned cases.
• Maintains confidentiality and participates in team conferences; supports program development.
• Performs other duties as assigned; demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows.
