Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of authorized administrators shall:
- Deliver direct service to children in the following areas: sensory motor development, physical rehabilitation, perceptual deficits, gross and fine motor coordination, activities of daily living.
- Evaluate referred students, score tests and write educationally relevant reports.
- Participate as a member of screening and evaluation teams.
- Attend case conferences on placement of individual students.
- Help develop Individual Educational Plans.
- Provide training to the appropriate persons to carry over therapy goals in the school setting.
- Maintain pertinent records on all referred students.
- Assign and supervise caseload and responsibilities of the COTA.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools.
Salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Salary placement will be determined by information contained in appropriate application with supporting documentation.
Performance on this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
This position subject to funding.

Job Requirements
- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. Work is moderate in nature with regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Successful completion of Registration Board exam.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
