Job Description
The Occupational Therapist works with students in grades PK-12 who have identified disabilities in fine motor skills, attention, sensory integration and other related areas. The OT is a member of the Special Education team and reports to the Director of Student Services.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Provide high quality Occupational Therapy to students with identified disabilities
  • Administer, interpret and report on standardized evaluations and informal assessments
  • Use data to report on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives
  • Use data and assessments to design challenging, measurable IEP goals and objectives
  • Attend and participate in Team Meetings (annual, initial, 3-year re-evaluation, emergency)
  • Collaborate with general education staff to monitor IEP implementation
  • Support general education staff in their efforts to provide high quality instruction to students with disabilities (modeling effective strategies, providing tools and resources, etc.)
  • Pursue ongoing professional development that is specific to the field of Occupational Therapy and the needs of our student population
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents and general education staff
  • Adhere strictly to timelines for the completion and submission of all required paperwork
  • Collaborate with related service team members, building administrators, and other relevant personnel to strengthen tiered systems of support
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ability to manage caseload of 35-45 students through direct and consultative means
  • Always maintain a high degree of professionalism (attendance, punctuality, dress, demeanor, etc.)
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Student Services
Educational or other qualifications required (if any):
  • Bachelor's Degree minimum, Master's Degree preferred
  • Successful completion of the NBCOT national exam for certification as an OTR
  • Massachusetts licensure and 1-2 years school based experience (preferred)

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms to stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Occasional climbing or balancing
  • Regular speaking and hearing; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
