Northbrook Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our in-house rehabilitation team. Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents' functional abilities, occupational performance, and rehabilitation needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, resident goals, and functional needs.
- Provide skilled occupational therapy services to improve independence with activities of daily living and functional mobility.
- Treat residents recovering from surgery, illness, injury, stroke, neurological conditions, falls, fractures, and other medical conditions.
- Address ADLs and IADLs, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, transfers, and other functional activities.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, activities, neuromuscular re-education, and functional training as clinically appropriate.
- Assess and address upper-extremity strength, range of motion, coordination, balance, and functional use.
- Recommend and educate residents on appropriate adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and compensatory strategies.
- Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Educate residents, families, caregivers, and facility staff regarding safety, positioning, adaptive techniques, and strategies to maximize independence.
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Communicate changes in resident condition and treatment recommendations to appropriate team members.
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Follow applicable professional, state, federal, and facility requirements.
- Promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program, as applicable.
- Current Iowa Occupational Therapist license or eligibility for Iowa licensure.
- Current CPR/BLS certification, as required.
- Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, acute care, or another medically based setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
- Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care.
