Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to act as a professional contact for plant personnel in planning projects and operations, ensuring safety programs are in place when consultation is not practical. You will liaise with contractors, reinforce safety rules, and improve worker morale by promoting a clean, healthy work environment while reducing injuries and property damage.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in OSH and 2+ years in petrochemicals or chemicals

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field is required
• Minimum of 2 years industrial safety experience in petrochemicals or chemicals manufacturing
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry & OSHA 1926 Construction
• Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal and computer skills
• Able to manage multiple projects and work in a team

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to EHS.
• Participates in SafeStart safety culture initiatives.
• Provide subject matter expertise for OSHA and related regulations.
• Own and drive Health & Safety support for specific Operating Unit(s).
• Review and revise Health & Safety Procedures.
• Support site with OSHA VPP Compliance initiatives.
• Assist with incident reporting, data analyses, and life safety audits.
• Conduct Walk-Through Inspections and Life Critical Audits.
• Participate in incident investigations and safety training.
• Support Emergency Response activities and Turnarounds.
