Job summary

Westlake is seeking a Health and Safety professional to partner with Plant personnel in planning projects and operations where hazard analysis is needed. You will serve as a liaison to contractors for safety policy interpretation and enforcement, contributing to a cleaner, healthier work environment and reducing injuries and property loss.

You will lead safety initiatives, review procedures, and support emergency responses, trainings, and safety committees while upholding Westlake safety rules

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
• CSP certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years industrial safety experience in petrochemicals or chemicals manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry and OSHA 1926 Construction.
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal and computer skills with working knowledge of related databases and applications.
• Capable of managing multiple projects and working in a team.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
• Provides subject matter expertise for OSHA and related regulations.
• Owns and drives safety matters for assigned Operating Unit(s).
• Reviews and revises Health and Safety Procedures.
• Supports OSHA VPP Challenge at the site.
• Generates reports from incident reporting databases and electronic systems.
• Conducts Walk-Through Inspections and Life Critical Audits.
• Participates in incident investigations.
• Develops and conducts Safety and Health Training.
• Participates in Emergency Response.
• Provides Health and Safety support for Turnarounds.
• Participates in Safety Committees.
• Supports Contractor Safety Management.
• May drive a company vehicle.
