Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Occupational Safety Intern to join our Health & Safety team for Summer 2027 at the Kaukauna site. This internship offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment where safety is a core value.

The Safety Intern will assist with safety inspections, incident investigations, training materials, and continuous improvement projects to support a safe and healthy workplace and help implement risk-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Rising soph., junior, senior, or grad student planning to return to school after internship.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews and risk assessments.
• Maintain compliance documentation and safety records.
• Help create and deliver safety communications and training materials.
• Support safety observations and employee engagement initiatives.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and EHS committee activities.
• Track safety metrics and prepare reports.
• Research safety best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with projects focused on risk reduction and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Thilmany is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Occupational Safety Intern to join our Health & Safety team for the Summer of 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment where safety is a core value. The Safety Intern will assist with safety initiatives, compliance activities, employee engagement programs, and continuous improvement projects designed to support a safe and healthy workplace.

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field to gain practical experience and exposure to safety management systems within an industrial manufacturing setting.

Pay Rate

• $27.00 per hour
• Housing stipend available for qualified candidates relocating to the Kaukauna area for the duration of the internship or co-op assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with safety inspections, audits, and workplace hazard assessments.

Qualifications:

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with plans to return to school following the internship.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

• Previous internship, work, or academic experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles.
• Experience analyzing data and preparing presentations or reports.
