Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated CNA to support patient care in a hospital setting, including operating room workflows and newborn nursery tasks. The role requires completing an accredited CNA program and maintaining BLS certification, with potential involvement in surgical procedures under supervision.

As part of a patient-first team, you will assist with specimens, vital signs, and daily activities while coordinating with RNs and physicians to ensure safe, efficient care delivery

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on State Of Illinois CNA Registry.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• Certified Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical functions under the direction of the RN or physician that provide support to patients and staff.
• Collects urine, stool and sputum specimens.
• Assists patients with bathing and oral hygiene.
• Obtains and records vital signs and daily weight.
• Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers; orients patient to environment and hospital services.
• Transports patients to and from radiology for diagnostic testing; transports blood and blood components to the laboratory.
• Assists in newborn nursery with transporting babies, weighing and drawing blood when needed.
• Arranges equipment, supplies and instruments in the operating room; assists in surgical procedures.

Education
