Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesiology or status as a candidate in the examination system, and the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license are required. Fellowship training in obstetric anesthesiology and/or extensive obstetric anesthesia experience (ideally three years) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: instruct medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the operating rooms of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC); participate in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or simulation sessions.
• Clinical: provide obstetrical anesthesia care at HUP and anesthesia services in the operating rooms and non-operating room anesthesia areas at HUP, PPMC, Penn Medicine University City, and other locations staffed by the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
• Service: participate on Department committees and take on appropriate administrative leadership roles.
• Academic emphasis: the academic clinician track emphasizes clinical and teaching excellence.
