Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, seeks an OB Technician to support the Labor and Delivery team during the night shift. You will assist with deliveries, maintain sterile fields, and provide compassionate patient care in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum settings.

The role requires a nursing diploma or surgical technologist diploma and relevant licensure (LPN or CST), with at least 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma or Surgical Technologist diploma required.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Surgical Technologist licensure required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in labor and delivery settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with labor and delivery procedures and provide technical support to the clinical team.
• Prepare, set up, and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments for deliveries and C-sections.
• Support patients and families with compassion and professionalism.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for patient care at all times.
• Work collaboratively with nurses and providers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
• Assist with patient admissions, vital signs, and general unit duties as needed.

As an OB Tech, you'll collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other members of the care team to ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive birthing experience. You'll provide both technical and patient care support in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum settings—helping our patients feel cared for every step of the way.
