Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is seeking an OB Technician to join the Labor and Delivery team. This full-time night shift (7p-7a) offers a chance to contribute to compassionate care in a high‑volume maternity unit.

You'll support nurses and providers, prepare sterile fields and instruments for deliveries and C-sections, assist with admissions and vital signs, and help ensure a safe, positive birthing experience for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma or Surgical Technologist diploma is required.
• Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Surgical Technologist license is required.
• 1 year of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with labor and delivery procedures and provide technical support to the clinical team.
• Prepare, set up, and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments for deliveries and C-sections.
• Support patients and families with compassion and professionalism.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for patient care at all times.
• Work collaboratively with nurses and providers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
• Assist with patient admissions, vital signs, and general unit duties as needed.

As an OB Tech, you’ll collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other members of the care team to ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive birthing experience. You’ll provide both technical and patient care support in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum settings—helping our patients feel cared for every step of the way.

What You’ll Do
