Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball seeks a Certified Obstetric Surgical Technologist to join a collaborative team caring for mothers and newborns. You will prepare the operating room, support the team during procedures, and ensure compassionate patient care with opportunities for training and mentorship.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument knowledge, and teamwork in obstetric and surgical settings, with schedule flexibility including on‑call support.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology is required.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply aseptic technique and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
• Prepare for surgery by pulling supplies and instruments for the procedure.
• Recognize and apply the appropriate surgical instruments and their uses.
• Prepare and assist in surgical/endo procedures with knowledge of anatomy.
• Maintain a safe sterile field and label medications on the sterile field.
• Set up for procedures and count supplies to prevent leaving objects inside the patient.
• Assist the physician during procedures with knowledge of the procedure.
• Differentiate sutures and their applications.
• Follow through to resolve issues and participate in process improvement.
• Demonstrate teamwork during the perioperative phase.
