Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit in Marquette, MI. The role involves monitoring patients, supporting clinical decisions, and guiding them toward admission or discharge after 24-48 hours.

You’ll collaborate with physicians and care teams, perform plan-of-care interventions, document care, and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced ED/inpatient observation setting.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license required.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including med administration, specimen collection, and other treatments.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors status.
• Collaborates with providers to ensure observation criteria and determine next steps (admission or discharge).
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists with activities of daily living and coordinates transfer, discharge and referrals as needed.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and condition.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
