Job summary

White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit. You will educate patients and families, mentor staff, and ensure care aligns with ANA standards and Adventist HealthCare values.

The role requires Maryland RN licensure, NCLEX, 1+ year RN experience, and ACLS as needed. Day shift, 36 hours/week, with weekend rotations and shift differential eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Passing score on NCLEX.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Current Maryland State nursing license.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by specialty area (for Observation: ACLS).

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and family through the continuum of care.
• Serve as role models to Level I nurses and support best practices with electronic resources.
• Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to ANA standards and Adventist HealthCare values.
• Use equipment correctly and delegate non-nursing duties to maximize efficiency.
• Develop a plan of care according to patient population.
• Identify changes in patient condition promptly and take corrective action.
• Mentor students and team members in patient-centered care.
• Conduct purposeful rounds from patient and family perspective.
• Perform literature searches and apply findings to practice.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in evidence-based changes.
