Job summary

Datadog is seeking Software Engineering Interns to help build and scale its observability and security platform. Interns contribute to backend, frontend, infrastructure, data engineering, and tooling while working with experienced engineers and mentors.

You’ll design and improve systems that process massive metrics, logs, and application data in real time, with focus on Kubernetes, distributed systems, and cloud-native infrastructure, delivering impact at global scale.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a CS/SE degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Targeting a 2028 full-time start date.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, software design.
• Experience or interest in AI coding tools and using them effectively.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to production systems that process and analyze large-scale observability and application data in real time.
• Build and improve distributed systems across backend infrastructure, developer platforms, and cloud-native services.
• Help identify and solve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges in critical services.
• Own and deliver technical projects from design through deployment with mentor support.
• Develop technical expertise with Kubernetes, distributed systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Collaborate with interns, mentors, and engineers to build software with global impact.
