Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team and support direct patient care under clinical protocol. You will room patients, record vitals, help with examinations, and assist clinicians with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one of the listed qualifications.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of medical assisting experience.
• Military Medic or EMT-P training are acceptable alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, BP, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments; assist with procedures as ordered.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine laboratory tests.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program

Military Medic training

EMT-P (Paramedic) training

Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
