Job summary

General Motors seeks a Technical Specialist to lead the development and integration of embedded software for On-Board Charging Module (OBCM) systems. This role provides technical direction from concept through production release, collaborating with software architects, HWIO, validation, and safety teams.

The candidate should have strong embedded C/C++ experience and deep knowledge of automotive power electronics, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, with a focus on PMW, control loops,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/controls/automotive engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in OBC, OBCM, automotive power conversion, embedded controls.
• Experience taking embedded software from requirements to production release.
• Strong hands-on embedded C/C++ and real-time software development.
• Knowledge of AC/DC conversion, PFC, DC/DC, PWM, protection, and control loops.
• Ability to analyze software and controls across controller, subsystem and vehicle levels.
• Familiarity with DOORS/DNG, Git and CI environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of OBCM embedded software and control integration across the product lifecycle.
• Define and evolve software, controls, interfaces, verification methods, and production criteria.
• Develop and guide control strategies for AC/DC PFC, DC/DC, voltage/current regulation, bidirectional operation.
• Provide direction for control loops, state machines, PWM, sampling, protection, diagnostics, and testing.
• Review software architecture and deliverables to ensure safety, maintainability and production readiness.
• Collaborate with architects, HWIO, hardware, and supplier teams to resolve integration issues.
• Integrate OBCM software with battery management, HV, charging, thermal management, and supervision.
• Lead root-cause analysis and verification across SIL/HIL, bench, dyno, and vehicle testing.
• Maintain requirements traceability from system requirements through test evidence.
• Support planning, estimation, risk management and issue resolution; mentor engineers.
