Edward Elmhurst Health in Naperville, IL is seeking an OB Technician for the Family Birthing Center. This full-time night shift (7 pm–7 am) rotates weekends and holidays, supporting RN staff and newborn care.

The technician assists during births, scrubs for C-sections, performs secretarial duties, and floats across units, under RN supervision. Must have CNA or related patient-care experience, CPR certification, and HS diploma.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification issued by American Heart Association required.
• Experience: CNA training or 6+ months patient care or nursing rotation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.
• Attend OB Technician Scrub Class and department orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under RN supervision in the Birth Center.
• Assist during births and scrub for C-sections and surgeries.
• Provide instrument counts and maintain sterile field during cases.
• Perform clerical and secretarial duties within the Birth Center.
• Float between Family Birthing Center units as needed.
• Clean OR/instruments and restock for next procedure.

The OB Technician provides assistance during births, scrubs for c-sections and minor surgeries, performs secretarial duties in the Birth Center and functions as a Nursing Assistant. Floats between all units within the Family Birthing Center. Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. **What you will do:*** Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.* Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.* Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field. Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure. Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.* Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis.
