Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an OB Technician in Naperville, IL to support the Birth Center with patient care and secretarial duties. The role involves assisting during births, scrubbing for c-sections and minor surgeries, and spanning multiple units within the Family Birthing Center under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, CPR certification, and a CNA certificate or equivalent patient care experience, plus the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED
• Certification: CPR certification issued by American Heart Association
• Experience: CNA certificate or six months of patient care or completion of one nursing clinical rotation
• Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions
• Attend in depth orientation regarding patient care skill tasks
• Successful completion of OB Technician Scrub Class offered by OB department

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills to care for women of childbearing age and their newborn
• Performs surgical scrub to assist the surgical team
• Performs scrub technician duties providing instruments and maintaining sterile field
• Counts sponges and instruments during cases and applies sterile dressing
• Cleans operating room, restocks room for next procedure, disposes of hazardous waste per OSHA standards
• Performs clerical and secretarial duties

Hourly Pay Range:

$25.36 - $38.04 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Ob Technician
• Location: Naperville, IL
• Full Time - 36 hours/ week
• Hours: Days, 7 am - 7 pm rotating weekends and rotating holidays
• Required Travel: No

A Brief Overview:
The OB Technician performs both clerical and nursing care duties within the Family Birthing Center. The OB Technician provides assistance during births, scrubs for c-sections and minor surgeries, performs secretarial duties in the Birth Center and functions as a Nursing Assistant. Floats between all units within the Family Birthing Center. Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

What you will do:

• Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.
• Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.
• Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field. Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure. Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.
• Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis. Disposes of hazardous medical wastes according to OSHA standards.
• Performs clerical and secretarial duties

What you will need:

• Education: High School diploma or GED
• Certification: Current CPR certification issued by American Heart Association
• Experience: Certificate from an accredited nursing assistant training course (CNA) or minimum six months of previous patient care experience or completion of one nursing clinical rotation
• Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions
• Required to attend in depth orientation regarding patient care skill tasks
• Successful completion of the OB Technician’s Scrub Class, offered by the OB department
