Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an OB Technician for Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. This part-time role covers 24 hours per week with 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include providing patient care under an RN, performing scrub duties, stocking sterile supplies, and assisting with procedures in the Labor and Delivery unit. BLS CPR/AED and IDPH‑certified CNA are required.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (IDPH) required.
• BLS - CPR and AED (AHA) required.
• Previous patient care experience or nursing clinical rotation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist surgical team as scrub technician and maintain sterile field.
• Prepare supplies and instruments for procedures and handle specimens.
• Clean and restock operating room and manage waste per OSHA standards.
• Assist patients with personal care and daily activities as needed.
• Transport medications and monitor patient conditions as necessary.

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Job Description

Position Highlights:

• Position: OB Technician - Labor and Delivery
• Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL
• Hourly, 12 shifts
• Part time: 24 hours/week
• Hours: 7p.m.- 7:30 a.m., Rotating weekends/holidays
• Required Travel: No

What you will do:

• Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.
• Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.
• Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field. Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure. Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.
• Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis. Disposes of hazardous medical wastes according to OSHA standards.
• Maintains skill level to scrub for C-Sections and other department approved surgical procedures. Selects and prepares supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, use of bedpan, positioning, and answering call light.
• Performs procedures such as thermal applications, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, and bed making. Obtains, point of care testing, scaled weights, and reports obvious abnormalities to the appropriate RN.
• Transports medications that are not controlled substances.

What you will need:

• Certified Nursing Assistant - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) required
• BLS - Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Previous patient care experience or completion of one nursing clinical rotation preferred.
