Endeavor Health in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking an OB Technician for Labor and Delivery at Northwest Community Hospital. This part-time, hourly role covers night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays.

Under RN supervision you will scrub, assist with patient care, maintain the sterile field, prepare supplies, and support the surgical team. CNA (IDPH) and BLS/CPR are required; prior patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• CNA IDPH certification required (Illinois).
• BLS/CPR certification from AHA required.
• Prior patient care experience or nursing clinical rotation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under RN supervision for women of childbearing age and newborns.
• Perform surgical scrub duties and assist surgical team.
• Maintain sterile field and hand instruments to surgeon; count sponges/instruments.
• Clean and restock operating room and dispose of waste per procedures.
• Assist with patient mobility, personal care, and comfort needs; take vitals, transport non-controlled meds.

Job Description

Position Highlights:

• Position: OB Technician - Labor and Delivery
• Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL
• Hourly, 12 hours/week
• Part time: 24 hours
• Hours: 7p.m.- 7:30 a.m., Rotating weekends/holidays
• Required Travel: No

What you will do:

• Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.
• Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.
• Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field. Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure. Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.
• Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis. Disposes of hazardous medical wastes according to OSHA standards.
• Maintains skill level to scrub for C-Sections and other department approved surgical procedures. Selects and prepares supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, use of bedpan, positioning, and answering call light.
• Performs procedures such as thermal applications, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, and bed making. Obtains, point of care testing, scaled weights, and reports obvious abnormalities to the appropriate RN.
• Transports medications that are not controlled substances.

What you will need:

• Certified Nursing Assistant - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) required
• BLS – Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Previous patient care experience or completion of one nursing clinical rotation preferred.
