Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of OR Technician course or on-the-job training for at least one year.
• One year hospital experience preferred.
• Certification for Surgical Technologist required as of January 2008 or obtaining certification within three months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes physician orders accurately and timely.
• Schedules medical procedures and appointments for patients.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and medical records.
• Enters all orders into POETS accurately.
• Reports identified and potential problems to the Charge Nurse.
• Completes sponge, instrument, and needle counts before skin closure.
