Job Summary and Qualifications

The Operating Room Scrub Tech performs specific non‑licensed or non‑professional duties of patient care under the supervision of the RN. As a staff member, he/she provides safe and effective patient care during surgical and other invasive procedures. The tech performs routine scrub duties and other tasks delegated in accordance with AORN standards and department policies. The role assists in maintaining a safe operating room environment, keeps up to date with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies, equipment, and assists with the ongoing Performance Improvement Program.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical scrub technician program, or experience working as a scrub tech
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Minimum of one year of surgery experience preferred
• Skilled in all surgical service lines: gynecology, general, robotics, ortho, neuro, vascular, urology, and ENT
• 1 year minimum experience as an OR tech or OB tech
