University of Maryland Medical System is seeking an OB Surgical Technician to assist obstetric teams in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will prepare patients and equipment, maintain sterile fields, and scrub during Cesarean sections and other OB procedures.
The role requires collaboration with nurses and physicians to ensure safe, efficient patient care. Responsibilities include equipment prep, instrument handling, stock maintenance, and assisting with deliveries and data collection.
The OB Surgical Technician assists the OB/GYN physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives, and RNs in both clinical and clerical duties. The OB Surgical techs perform selected patient care tasks within the Labor and Delivery setting under the supervision of nursing including but not limited to preparing patients and equipment for special obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting the obstetrical surgical team as a scrub during Cesarean Sections and other surgical procedures in Labor and Delivery, maintaining surgical and other equipment and ensuring adequate supply levels for the Labor and Delivery OR at all times.
Attained level: High School Graduate or GED Program required; Associate’s degree and/or job-specific work experience preferred.
