OB/GYN receptionist

Job Description

To provide clerical support in the OB/GYN department, adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC, and meet the needs of patients in a teamwork approach.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting and involves frequent telephone contact, as well as face-to-face communication with patients. Interactions with others are constant and interruptive. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice. Activities include walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients, and sitting for extended periods. Occasional stress from multiple responsibilities may occur.

Job Responsibilities

  • Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner
  • Greet guests and incoming calls in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner
  • Take accurate messages including all required information
  • Process voicemails
  • Be at your workstation on time and prepared to start the day
  • Be flexible to stay past scheduled work time as needed
  • Prepare and process fee tickets, patient forms, etc.
  • Collect co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, or other balances
  • Process payments and receipts correctly
  • Prepare daily deposit and maintain cash bag
  • Obtain accurate demographic and insurance information from patients
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient service
  • Meet or exceed expectations through teamwork
  • Keep work area and clinic clean
  • Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
  • Follow MMC policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned with instruction
