Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff in patient care. You will assist with clinical tasks, ancillary testing, patient flow, and patient education while helping with exams and vital signs.

CPR-certified, with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and credentialing, is required. The role includes recording medical records, venipuncture, medication administration, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two to three years medical assisting and medical office experience.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Medical Assistant certification (such as NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, NHA, AMT, etc.) is required.
• Demonstrated skill in venipuncture.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff in patient care.
• Assist in performing ancillary testing/services for patients.
• Help monitor patient flow and assist with patient exams.
• Obtain vital signs and review charts prior to care delivery.
• Provide clear patient education and instructions.
• Administer medications properly and document administration.
• Assist with daily/weekly clinical duties (room stocking, cleaning, etc.).
• Assist in creating and filing medical records.
