Job summary

Ascension is seeking an OB hospitalist to step into a brand-new flagship program in Austin, TX, focusing on clinical excellence, patient safety, and program culture. This is a full-time opportunity across multiple Austin-area sites with hospital-affiliated support.

You will lead the clinical delivery, collaborate with NICU teams, and contribute to a unique, scalable obstetric care model designed for high-acuity cases, with options for 12- or 24-hour shifts to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology completed.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by ABOG.
  • Current Texas medical license (or eligibility) and DEA registration by start date.
  • Prior experience as an OB hospitalist or in high-acuity obstetrics preferred but not required.
  • MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date.

  • Champion patient safety and satisfaction through round-the-clock continuity of care.

Base Salary: Hourly $150-200/hr

Malpractice coverage with tail

$7000 CME yearly, 5 CME days | Full-time

About The Practice
  • Practice Setting: Inpatient only
  • Employed physician within a nonprofit Catholic health system
  • Choice of 3 initial sites with high, medium, and low acuity
  • Full-time 120 hours/month; Part-time 60 hours/month
  • NICU staffed with Dell Children's Neonatologists
  • Serving the Austin proper population of approximately 1.02 million and Round Rock population of 142,000

Additional Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by ABOG
  • Current Texas medical license (or eligibility) and DEA registration by start date
  • Prior experience as an OB hospitalist or in high-acuity obstetrics preferred but not required.
What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
