Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Obstetrics Emergency Department (OBED) in Round Rock, TX. You will coordinate and provide patient care, assess patients and families, and develop individualized care plans to support safe, high-quality outcomes.

You will document assessments, educate patients, and participate in discharge planning, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines in a busy OBED setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide patient care for all assigned patients in the Obstetrics Emergency Department (OBED) unit
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of the patient and family
• Develop an individualized patient care plan
• Provide family-centered patient teaching
• Identify and correct variances from the patient care plan
• Facilitate discharge planning and teaching
• Complete admission interview upon patient arrival and document the patient assessment
• Identify changes in patient condition and report changes to the physician or charge nurse
• Assess and document patient educational needs and instructions given upon admission and throughout hospitalization
• Provide psychological and social support to the patient and family
• Facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning
• Accurately administer and legibly document medications
• Keep the physician and/or Clinical Nurse Coordinator aware of significant information or changes
• Continuously evaluate the plan of care to determine need for modifications
• Provide individualized nursing interventions based on the plan of care, and document patient responses

Education

Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
