Job summary

State of Michigan is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to support MDHHS by assessing applications and determining the type and level of assistance. You will communicate program options and coordinate referrals to services as needed.

This remote/hybrid role may be performed from home with occasional in-office work at the Oakland County DHHS location; you will help families pursue self-sufficiency and navigate eligibility rules.

• Maintain accurate case records and guidance following MDHHS.

The role of the Eligibility Specialist is to strengthen Michigan families by:

• Ensuring that each person/family that applies for public assistancereceivesthe type and level of assistance that they are eligible for


• Assessing the needs of each person/family and giving them appropriate information and making any referrals and/or contacts to persons/agencies to help them meet their needs.


• Providing all families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).


• Encouraging and guiding families in their efforts to become self supporting.

• Job Specification

Position Location/Remote Office: This position may work remotely or work hybrid (remote/office). The office is located at the Oakland County Department of Health and Human Services office.

Pay negotiations within the classification pay range will only be considered based on your current employment earnings and/or relevant position specific experience.
