Job summary

The State of Michigan is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to strengthen Michigan families by ensuring applicants receive the correct assistance and by assessing needs to provide information and referrals. The role involves guiding families toward self-sufficiency and explaining the goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

This position may operate remotely or in a hybrid setup, with the Washtenaw County DHHS office serving as a physical location when needed.

• Ensuring that each person/family that applies for public assistance receives the type and level of assistance that they are eligible for
• Assessing the needs of each person/family and giving them appropriate information and making referrals and/or contacts to agencies to help meet their needs
• Providing families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)
• Encouraging and guiding families in their efforts to become self-supporting

Position Location/Remote Office

This position may work remotely or work hybrid (remote/office). The office is located at the Washtenaw County Department of Health and Human Services office at 22 Center St, Ypsilanti, MI 48198.

Pay negotiations within the classification pay range will only be considered based on your current employment earnings and/or relevant position specific experience.
