Job summary

Homecrest Community Services, Inc. in Southern Brooklyn seeks a Programs Coordinator to assist in developing and implementing vital programs for aging populations. The role requires coordinating events and collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure successful delivery.

The position emphasizes relationship-building with agencies, staff, and the public, plus monitoring, reporting, and regulatory compliance. Weekend availability and community engagement are expected components of the job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field; or two years of college and two years of demonstrated experience working with aging populations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of older adult issues is strongly encouraged
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Older Adults
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing appropriate programs.
  • Develop monthly calendars of events.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to coordinate programs.
  • Evaluates and monitors assigned activities/programs and recommends improvements.
  • Investigates service complaints and recommends remedial action if required.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing working relationships with other social services agencies, organizations, and community groups.
  • Represents Homecrest at meetings and events with other agencies and the public.
  • Performs daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and data entry.
  • Generate and maintain reports for audit from funding sources.
  • Ensures compliance with state, local, and department laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Intervene in emergencies according to agency protocols.
  • Any other duties assigned by the President & CEO.
  • Weekend Availability: Staff must be willing to work on weekends as needed.
  • Community Engagement: Attendance at community outreach events, such as tabling on behalf of Homecrest, is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe, and Google Drive.
