Job summary

Maryland School for the Blind has two openings for Orientation & Mobility Specialists. The role provides O&M services to children birth to 21 and adults, with supervision and a focus on collaboration across the district.

Compensation includes a pay scale ranging from $50,143 to $101,182 for 30 hours and $60,000 to $119,522 for 35 hours weekly, with relocation reimbursement and a $2,500 retention bonus after one year.

Qualifications

• Minimum of O&M Certification by a recognized university program or Bachelor’s Degree in O&M.
• ACVREP certification must be obtained by the beginning of the 2nd year.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and develops educational programs based on O&M curriculum; monitors and reports on student O&M programs on/off campus in Maryland.
• Conducts in-service training programs and disseminates O&M information.
• Participates in school and student meetings and completes related paperwork with deadlines.
• Transports students in a personal vehicle to training sites.
• Speaks clearly and effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
• Evaluates and teaches all forms of public transportation.
