Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a qualified professional to provide Orientation and Mobility (O&M) services to students with visual impairments. Responsibilities include individual and group instruction based on IEP goals, training staff for consistent support, and consulting with families and professionals.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree and an Orientation and Mobility Certification, along with 3 to 5 years of O&M experience in a school setting. Additional verification of education and certifications will be required upon interview.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 to 5 years of professional O&M experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual or group instruction designed to increase orientation and mobility skills of students with visual impairments.
• Provide training to staff to encourage consistent support for student achievement.
• Collaborate with school/agency staff to schedule visits and provide O&M therapy.
• Consult with parents, medical staff, teachers, and other professionals regarding the needs of students.
• Make recommendations regarding campus design to promote independence for students who are blind.

Education
