Job summary

Alliance Building Services is seeking an Area Manager to oversee janitorial operations across NYC commercial buildings. You will lead field teams, maintain contract quality, and drive operational efficiency while managing client relationships.

The role requires 3+ years of management in janitorial or related services, strong leadership, and proficiency with Office and operations systems. Monday–Friday schedule with evening hours is typical.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of management experience in janitorial, commercial cleaning, facilities, or building services.
• Proven experience supervising multiple teams, locations, or commercial accounts.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with quality assurance, scheduling, payroll/timekeeping, employee relations, and client service.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational systems; knowledge of NYC commercial building operations and labor union practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily janitorial operations and supervise Janitorial Supervisors and Forepersons across an assigned portfolio.
• Conduct regular building and quality control inspections to ensure contract compliance and high service standards.
• Monitor staffing, scheduling, attendance, timekeeping, payroll, supplies, equipment, and operational expenses.
• Address client complaints, service issues, and employee concerns while maintaining strong client and labor relations.
• Prepare and review operational reports, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and coordinate emergency response plans.
