Job summary

Adams Consulting Group (Adams CG) is seeking a General Superintendent for on-site leadership in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This full-time role oversees field operations, coordinates subcontractors, maintains schedules, and ensures safety and compliance with plans and specifications.

The ideal candidate has proven experience managing ground-up or renovation projects, strong reading of drawings and contracts, and excellent communication with project managers, owners, and design teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading field operations as a Superintendent or General Superintendent on ground-up and/or renovation construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, safety regulations, and sequencing of work.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors, manage field crews, and maintain strict project schedules.
• Solid skills in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Experience implementing and enforcing site safety programs, conducting safety meetings, and promoting a safety-first culture.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with project managers, owners, and design professionals.
• Proficiency with construction management tools and basic digital platforms (e.g., project management software, email, and document management systems).
• Experience in the New York City Metropolitan Area construction market and familiarity with local regulations is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all field operations on construction projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors and field staff; manage daily site activities.
• Conduct site walks and resolve construction issues in real time.
• Enforce safety programs, conduct toolbox talks, and monitor quality control.
• Maintain site documentation and logs; provide regular updates on progress, resource needs, and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with project managers, owners, and design teams; participate in progress meetings.
