Job summary

Project Resources Group (PRG) seeks a Utility Construction Inspector to support underground infrastructure and construction activities across New York City. You will inspect field conditions, identify utility conflicts, document construction activities, and ensure work aligns with drawings, permits, safety requirements, and standards.

This is a field-first role in active construction environments including excavation and heavy civil operations.

Qualifications

• Direct field experience in construction inspection, heavy civil construction, or underground infrastructure.
• Familiarity with NYC underground infrastructure, congested utility environments, and street-opening construction preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, specs, permits, and mark-outs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect underground construction, excavation, and utility work for compliance with drawings, specs, permits, safety rules, and standards.
• Perform field investigations of underground utilities and potential interferences; document findings.
• Conduct site visits before, during, and after construction to evaluate conditions and progress.
• Identify and document conflicts between proposed work and existing underground infrastructure.
• Coordinate with contractors, utilities, engineers, and field staff to address issues and determine next steps.
• Document inspection results with reports, notes, and photos; track open issues and resolutions.
