Job summary

Project Resources Group, Inc. is seeking a Utility Construction Inspector to support underground infrastructure and construction activities across New York City.

The role involves inspecting field conditions, identifying conflicts, documenting work, and ensuring compliance with drawings, permits, and safety standards. This is a field-first position; expect active construction environments with travel across the five boroughs.

Qualifications

• Direct field experience involving construction inspection and underground infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, specifications, permits, and field documentation.
• Willingness to travel across NYC five boroughs and work in active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect underground construction, excavation, and utility work for compliance with drawings, permits, and safety requirements.
• Perform field investigations of underground conflicts, interferences, and differing field conditions.
• Conduct site visits before, during, and after construction to evaluate conditions and progress.
• Document conflicts between proposed construction and existing infrastructure, including electric, gas, telecom, water, and sewer."
• Compare actual field conditions with drawings, records, permits, and surveys.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, shoring, backfilling, and restoration activities.
• Identify deficient or noncompliant work and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with contractors, utilities, engineers, and field personnel to resolve issues.
• Maintain detailed inspection reports, field notes, and photographs of conditions.
