Job summary

Project Resources Group (PRG) is seeking a Utility Construction Inspector to support underground infrastructure and construction activities across New York City. You will inspect field conditions, identify utility conflicts, document construction activities, and help ensure work aligns with drawings, permits, and safety standards.

This is a field-first role, spending most time in active construction environments with excavation, underground utilities, and heavy civil work.

Qualifications

• Direct field experience in construction inspection and underground infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, permits, and specifications.
• Strong documentation and communication of field conditions.
• Experience working on NYC projects is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect underground construction, excavation, and utility work for code compliance.
• Perform field investigations of conflicts and differing field conditions.
• Conduct site visits before, during and after construction.
• Identify and document conflicts with existing underground infrastructure.
• Compare conditions against drawings, records, and permits.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, shoring, backfilling and restoration.
• Escalate safety concerns, conflicts, or deficiencies to leadership.
• Coordinate with contractors, utilities, engineers and field staff.
• Document conditions with reports, notes and photos.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and follow-up actions.
