Job summary

OMIC USA, Inc. is seeking a Chemist II to deliver accurate nutritional analyses of minerals, vitamins, and related compounds in foods and supplements. You will handle sample prep, GC-FID analysis, data entry in LIMS, and ensure quality control across methods.

The role requires a BS in Chemistry with 3+ years of applicable experience, strong QA/QC knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior staff within a GMP/ISO 17025 environment. Portland-area lab environment with standard laboratory duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with at least 3 years of directly applicable experience.
  • Experience with GC-FID and analytical instrumentation.
  • Strong QA/QC understanding per AOAC, USP, ISO, FDA.
  • Ability to work independently and mentor others in extraction, analytical and instrument methodology.
  • Experience in data analysis and handling large datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nutritional analyses for minerals, vitamins, proximates, amino acids, and fatty acids per SOPs and validated methods.
  • Prepare, extract, digest, and analyze samples including complex matrices.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments including GC-FID; escalate issues as needed.
  • Enter data into LIMS and assume responsibility for reported results.
  • Maintain reference materials, calibration standards, and quality control materials.
  • Trend IQC data and recommend corrective actions for out-of-spec results.
  • Review data packages for completeness and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs ensuring ISO 17025 compliance.
  • Support method development, validation, transfer, and optimization projects.
  • Assist with equipment qualification and new method implementations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement for data quality and efficiency.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and reorder supplies.
  • Schedule and prioritize work to meet timelines.
  • Train Chemist I staff and provide technical support.
