Job summary

Unalaska City School District is seeking a Nutrition Services staff member to support breakfast and lunch programs. Primary duties include meal preparation, service, and ensuring compliance with federal USDA meal regulations and food safety guidelines.

Position hours vary by site, typically 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, 9 months per year (on-call). The role is non-benefitted; orientation and HR approval are required before starting.

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Obtain a Food Handler card within 30 days after hire.
• Applicants must attend orientation and be approved by human resources prior to working.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for breakfast and lunch in compliance with federal USDA meal regulations.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met in the kitchen and facility.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas; assist with basic maintenance as needed.
• May operate a computerized POS system and handle related duties.
• Assist with moving food and non-food items as required; work in a fast-paced, loud kitchen environment.

Job description

This is an ongoing recruitment. After an application is submitted, the Nutrition Services Manager will contact applicants for interviews on an as‑needed basis.

Job Summary:

Nutrition Services staff provides our students with breakfast and lunch. Primary responsibility is for the preparation and service of meals that ensure federal USDA meal regulation and food safety compliance cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facility, possible operation of a computerized POS system, and the moving of food and non-food items. These tasks are fast‑paced and repetitive in a loud kitchen environment.

Hourly rate: $15

Work hours: Start times vary depending on location site, but most positions work between the hours of 8 am. - 2:30 pm

Work year: 9 months (on-call)

This position is non-benefitted.
