Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of patient meal service, which may include answering phones in the call center; assembling patient trays; cleaning and sanitizing dishes, pots and pans, equipment, and work area according to established standards; delivering and picking up patient meal trays; requisitioning, receiving, and storing stock, along with related tasks. Communicates effectively and provides excellent patient and family-centered care and services.

Essential Functions

1. Provide patient meal service including accurate portioning and presentation of menu items, set up of tray assembly station, and tray assembly. Transport tray carts and deliver trays to patients. Collect soiled trays and return to kitchen. Stock, distribute, and/or collect patient menus.
2. Perform call center duties including answering multiple line phones, inputting patient selections into computer while ensuring compliance with dietary restrictions and addressing special needs.
3. Obtain and document patient food and beverage selections, intake, and other preferences as directed.
4. Perform dish room duties including breakdown of soiled trays, washing, sanitizing, and proper storage of pots and pans. Operate dish machine and handle, stock, and clean service ware and equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.
5. Collect and dispose of trash. Sweep and mop floors. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment.
6. Maintain work area including requisitioning, receiving, rotating, and storing stock while meeting safety and sanitation standards.
7. Transport food carts within the department and to patient care areas or other locations as assigned.
8. Work independently and as part of a team.
9. Identify and communicate opportunities for waste reduction and service improvements to leadership per established guidelines.
10. Meet productivity, regulatory compliance, and service standards for the assigned area.

Qualifications

Required

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Food service experience.
