Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a full-time Floater & Cook to prepare nutritious meals for its Early Learning Centers under the supervision of the Director. The role emphasizes menu planning, food safety, and timely delivery of meals to classrooms in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Candidates should be able to manage inventory, follow USDA and CACFP requirements, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, reach and stand for long periods of time.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (within 30 days of hire).
• Must obtain a valid Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within menu and budget.
• Prepare meals and distribute to classrooms following health guidelines.
• Follow daily menu incorporating USDA/licensing regulations.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies.
• Plan and serve balanced meals promoting good nutrition.
• Use Production Worksheets to plan ingredients for the number served.
• Adhere to recipes to meet nutritional requirements.
• Ensure safe storage of food supplies.
• Keep kitchen and utensils clean per standards.
