Job summary

Christ the King Early Learning Center, under the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Augustine, seeks an assistant teacher to nurture young children in a warm, safe setting. You will aid with planning age-appropriate activities, support daily routines, and help assess and document development.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, background check readiness, and completion of required trainings. This role emphasizes faith-aligned values and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• DCF 45-hour training preferred; may start within 30 days and complete within 6 months.
• Prior experience in child care preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth and development for birth to 5 years.
• Criminal background check and Protecting God's Children training required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate educational activities.
• Assist daily lesson planning based on approved curriculum to promote all areas of development.
• Assist in ongoing assessments and individualized documentation.
• Support balanced daily routines with teacher- and child-directed activities, indoors and outdoors.
• Provide a stimulating learning environment with new materials weekly; accommodate children with special needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Conduct daily health checks and plan healthy weekly activities.
• Follow medical/dental emergency procedures and safe practices to prevent injuries.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene and assist in center upkeep.
• Assist in kitchen duties and follow individual feeding schedules for infants.
• Attend parent meetings and communicate child progress; participate in family involvement activities.
• Participate in on-site and off-site professional development; target 35 annual in-service hours.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Knowledge of safety and abuse reporting procedures after training.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred.
