Saint Peter's Healthcare System in New Jersey seeks a Nursing Unit Secretary Per Diem in the Operating Room to serve as the central communication hub for the unit and coordinate clerical tasks, admissions, discharges, and patient appointments.

The role supports the health care team by managing communications, answering calls, and assisting visitors, while maintaining an orderly nurse station. Per diem position with competitive base pay and eligible benefits.

Qualifications

• Read and transcribe physician orders.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills essential.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of hospital personnel, patients and visitors.
• Good communication/phone skills required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the central focus of communication for the Patient-C Care Unit.
• Coordinate the clerical functions of the Unit—assisting with charting, admissions and discharges.
• Maintain organization within Nurse's station to promote an orderly workflow.
• Receive, sort, and organize all interdepartmental communications.
• Schedule and coordinate special patient appointments with other departments as directed by Health Care Team Members.
• Answer call bells and assist as appropriate.
• Answer a high volume of phone calls, welcome and assist all visitors to the unit.
