Job summary

Salem Regional Medical Center in Ohio seeks a Per Diem Unit Secretary to support the Nursing Pool. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will manage clerical tasks, patient communications, and document transcription for the unit.

Responsibilities include answering phones, routing messages, maintaining patient records, greeting visitors, and assisting with indirect care duties as assigned by the Unit Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; legible handwriting and knowledge of medical terms.
• Completed basic computer course or relevant work experience.
• Unit Secretary Training and Orientation completed by the hospital.
• BLS certification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Answering the telephone and patient communication system.
• Transmitting messages via the computer.
• Transcribing physician orders.
• Maintaining patients' records.
• Greeting, directing, and giving information to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Performing indirect care duties as assigned by the Unit Director.
